David Naso was born in Salerno, on April
29th, 1967. He received the Laurea degree with honours in electronic
engineering and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the
Polytechnic of Bari, Italy, in 1994 and 1998, respectively. During his
Ph.D. studies, he was also a Guest Researcher with the Operation
Research Institute, Technical University of Aachen, Germany, in 1997.
Since 1999, he has been an Assistant Professor of automatic control at
the Department of Electric and Electronic Engineering of the
Polytechnic of Bari, where he currently serves as the Technical Head of
the Robotics lab. In 2010 he has been elected in the Board of Governors
of the same Polytechnic. He is currently the area editor of the journal
“Fuzzy Sets and Systems” for the topic of intelligent control. His
research interests include computational intelligence and its
application to control, industrial automation and robotics, numerical
and combinatorial optimization, and distributed control of
manufacturing systems. He has published more than 100 scientific papers
(28 on peer-reviewed international journals) on these topics. Within
the joint AVIO Spa -Polytechnic of Bari laboratory (Energy Factory
Bari), he serves as the head of the Control Systems team.
